When you start MATLAB, the search path contains only the default folders that MATLAB already knows about, such as the current folder and the MATLAB installation folder. This search path is used by MATLAB’s internal functions and scripts to find the files they need, as well as files that users have written. The path command in MATLAB is a function that allows users to add folders, subfolders, and individual files to the MATLAB search path. To do this, use the “savepath” command which will store your MATLAB search path into the MATLAB pathdef. Additionally, to get a list of the paths that have been added, you can use the “path” command.įinally, you may wish to save your path in MATLAB, so that it is loaded each time you start MATLAB. If you want to remove a path, use the “rmpath” command followed by the directory. Once you have added a path, it will remain in the MATLAB search path until you remove it. For example, if you wanted to add “C:\Documents\test_folder” as a path, you would type the command “addpath(‘C:\Documents\test_folder’)”. To add a path, use the “addpath” command followed by the directory of the file or folder you wish to add. Writing a path in MATLAB is a relatively straightforward process.
